Transition to Crib!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been around a whole lot lately! It seems like I am always doing something else then getting on the computer. I feel like I am finally getting into a routine.

So my question is...... We are starting to transition Ella into sleeping in her crib. I am wondering how you all did this and what worked for you??  We have tried it a couple of times and we are trying to work on her putting herself to sleep in the crib. Thanks in advance!

Re: Transition to Crib!

  • Grace didn't start sleeping in her crib at night until she was about 5 months old.  Part of that was that I liked her sleeping in her pack'n play in my room.  It was hard for me to have her on the other side of the house.  We started letting her nap in her crib.  At first she had to be rocked to sleep but eventually they will go to sleep on their own when they're tired.

  • We put Allie in her crib at 8 weeks.  She started STTN at 7 weeks, so I waited a few days to make sure it was for good, then made the move.  It was definitely much later before we could just lay her in there awake, so we would hold her to sleep, then put her in there and that is where she has been ever since.
    Allie ~ 01/26/09 ~ 7 lbs, 9 oz ~ 20.75 in. & Amelia ~ 03/16/11 ~ 8 lbs, 1 oz ~ 21 in.

  • Aubrey has pretty much always slept in her crib with the exception of a couple of weeks her first month where it was bothering her to lay on her back so she slept in her bouncer.  Luckily she went right back to her crib but we had to rock her to sleep first.  We were able to start laying her down drowsy but awake at about 3 and a half months.

A couple of friends of mine who had their baby in a PNP in their room at first said they started with naps in the crib first, then moving it to nighttime.

  • Thanks guys I will try a few of those things!!
  • Ditto-- daytime naps in the crib definitely helped M with the transition =)
