Nausea

How sick to you have to be to get a prescription of Zofran?  What if you're nauseous but don't actually throw up?

I would imagine it depends on your doctor.  I have Zofran, but got it from my neurologist.  I take it because my migraines give me nausea.  I don't usually throw up, but the zofran really, really helps calm my nausea and I bet it will probably give me similar relief from m/s if/when that comes around.

  • I'm sure it is safe if they prescribe it to pregnant women, but I wouldn't take anything I didn't desperately need. If you aren't throwing up, the nausea isn't dangerous, just uncomfortable. I thought those prescriptions were for women who were so sick they became dehydrated and malnourished. I could be wrong, just seems like if you aren't actually throwing up you don't really need it. But, obviously, talk to your doc. Hope you feel better!

  • there are other remedies that will help with morning sickness.  there is a level that is considered normal.  if you are losing weight and unable to keep anything down, feeling dehydrated, lightheadedness or fainting then that is a different story.

~ try increasing protein in your diet.  get at least 80 gms per day.

~ lots and lots of water

    ~ B6

    ~ ginger candy

    ~ seabands

~ eating a protein snack or protein shake at night before bed

~ discuss with your healthcare provider any other options that might help your nausea.
