Playroom inspiration needed!

So, DH and I decided that we will turn our front room aka "walk in the door and throw all of your stuff on the floor" room, into a baby proof playroom. We'll use the couch to section off part of the room and get a nice big rug (or those foam floor thingies?)  I plan on putting the play yard in there, so that when we do have to walk away for a minute we can pop Julia in there, she really plays well in it for now.

I will move Julia's little bookshelf from her bedroom in there, and collect all the little baskets of toys from around the house and put those on the floor along the wall. I will put the bouncy seat in there for David to sit in while Julia and I are playing on the floor.

Any other ideas? I can't spend much money on this project, as I'm in the middle of finishing David's nursery. I think just baby-proofing and getting all of the toys and books in one place is really going to make a difference.

Eventually I'd love a little table and chairs and a play kitchen-maybe for Julia's Christmas presents this year we will get that.

Re: Playroom inspiration needed!

  • That actually sounds great! I have DDs room set up as her playroom (as she's still in our room). For her bday I bought her a fisher price swing with s slide in it which is small and I have it in her room. Maybe something like that but just the slide piece. I wish I would have bought the slide only DD doesn't like the swing. But the room sounds great.

  • For baskets, I love the fabric ones over wicker because they essentially can't break as our wicker ones from Ikea are falling apart.

Some cute scrapbook paper with fun prints could be framed to create some colorful artwork.  Easy and cheap.  I might do something for Elizabeth's nursery like that.

Hmm.  I'm trying to think of other ideas since I know your house.  Let me ponder it!
