mixed grain cereal....more constipation?

anyone else notice their LO getting a little more constipated if you're using the multi-grain mixed cereal?

i just read the ingredients, and noticed that rice cereal is one of the ingredients...i'm wondering if that's part of our issues.

    We switched to the Earth's Best multigrain because rice was constipating DS.  If I'm not mistaken, the EB multigrain has oat, barley, and spelt - no rice.  What brand are you using?

    HM, I will read my boxes. He hasn't tried mixed grain yet, but has tried oatmeal, barley and rice. Doc told us not to use rice since he is a constipated child.

    This is what we use and I mix it into yogurt. He won't eat it otherwise.

    just the gerbers brand...we have a box of it, and a canister of the DHA oatmeal by gerber as well.  

    he's been really straining to poop here in the past 4 or 5 days, and although it's not rock hard, it's thicker & darker.  at first i thought it was just him eating more solid food & his body adjusting, but as much as he's straining, i'm wondering if he's either having too much cereal, or the wrong kind.

    he only has a bowl of cereal at night after his last bottle.  it probably has 3 tablespoons in it (i just eyeball it & pour, and mix it with whatever formula he doesn't drink from that last bottle.)
