We just save any plastic shopping bags we get, toss the diaper in, tie it up and put it in our trash (that has it's own lid) Our trash goes out just about every day though so there's not much time for it to get stinky.
I would not have made it through the first tri of this 2nd pg without it. Lifesaver! We even double bagged, just to keep me from getting so sick. Poop baggie, then put in the diaper genie!
LOVE it! We weren't sure at first as we originally just started out with a regular small trash can with a lid on it and used these diaper bags ...SMELL = FAIL!
We bought the Diaper Genie II/Elite and it definitely contains the smell.

It uses regular trash bags, so no need to buy the refills. We use it daily, so I think it was worth it. We only need to change the bag every 4-5 days. We can go up to a week without changing it, but it gets pretty gross if we don't.
We have two. One upstairs and downstairs! But go to Once Upon a Child and get one for about 6-10 bucks. Also, we use trash bags and you can't smell a thing.
We have a Diaper Dekor in the boys' room. I think I've only had to buy the refills 3 times since Elliott was born. Most of the time the boys are changed downstairs and their diapers go in the kitchen trash (which goes out almost every day). It's easier to keep a small stash of diapers and wipes downstairs instead of running up the stairs to change them. I think it's really a personal preference.

Ditto this. I second the pp who said to buy one used though-good idea!

This, i'm glad I didn't do the Genie since we can use whatever bags and it doesn't smell!

We have a Diaper Champ instead of the Genie.
