Help.. Which pump is better??

I am planning on BF as much as possible and also pumping so my husband can help and also I plan on going back to work full time.  I was looking into the Medela Swing Single, but also just came across on my local craiglist a brand new unopened, Ameda Purely Yours with with Carry All. Does anyone have any experience with the Ameda?  After looking online it looks like the extra parts would all have to be purchased online ( target, BRU, etc doesn't carry them)?  Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Michelle

  • I have no experience with either, but a single pump might be a pain if you need to use it more than occasionally IMO.

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours ultra.  My LC recommended it because it is a closed system (the purely yours is also) and milk can not get into the tubes.  It works great for me.  My local hosp. store does sell parts for it.  if you go on their web site you can see if any stores near you carry parts.

  • I love my Ameda PY. I highly recommend it.

The hospital pump I rented was an Ameda as well so I got an extra set of pump parts there.

  • If you plan on pumping frequently I would recommend a double pump.  I have the PISA and it was fantastic.  Hospitals carry Medela if that helps at all.
