Those with 5 week olds!

How long are they sleeping and staying awake?

Re: Those with 5 week olds!

  • During the day, she's awake for 30 minutes to an hour, then sleeps for an hour or more before waking up to nurse again. She's more wakeful during the late morning and early evening, and more sleepy during the afternoon. At night, she either STTN or wakes up just once to nurse.

  • mine is sleeping 5-7 hrs for the first part of the night and then 2-4 hrs. During the day she eats every 2-3 hours and is usually up for half the time in between feedings.

  • DD sleeps 7 hrs for first part of night, then 3-4.  After she wakes up in the morning, she is up for about an hour before going back to sleep.  I try to get her to nap about 2 hrs.  Then, she's up for another hour before napping again.  I get a longer chunk of awake time in the early evening, but she's usually screaming for most of that ;)
  • We are a couple days shy of 5 weeks and my baby won't sleep more than 2 hours at a time and if I'm not holding him he won't sleep more than 30-60 minutes at a time.  He actually used to sleep longer and I have no idea why he stopped.  I'm completely jealous of those that have babies only getting up once during the night.  Last night ds was up 5 times between midnight and 6, when I finally gave up and got up for the day.  For most of the night I end up sitting awake so I can hold him while he sleeps.

It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • 4-5 hours for the first part of the night then 3-4 more until around 7am or so.  Then up for an hour or less then napping on and off the rest of the day. Awake for a good part of the evening (usually a little fussy then too!) then to bed around 10-10:30 - repeat.

Well, my DD is swaddled in the miracle blanket at night, and I totally attribute her awesome sleeping to that!  Otherwise, she'd probably be up every 30 mins.  During the day, however, she must be held to sleep.  It sucks!  I tried swaddling for naps, but it just doesn't work.

We are going through this, now. LO was just diagnosed with reflux and started on Xantac. I'm hoping that will help with the sleep issues... I would love a five hour stretch. Or even a four hour stretch!

We've been using summer infant swaddlers (BRU) for the most part and they work pretty well, but my favorite is the Woombie (recent buy from babyhalfoff.com).  The woombie is awesome and it's those nights that DD get up to 7 hrs in a stretch.
