Belly rubbing - Am I the only one that likes it?!

Okay, so while we were TTC, I stalked many boards, in preparation of the pregnancy.  One comment I read over and over again was "I hate it when people rub my bell!"  And I totally understood it... I don't want random people touching me either.  I thought I'd feel the same way.

However, I actually like when people (I know) rub the belly... actually, when they rub one side, or w/ one hand, I make them rub the other side, to give the other baby some lovin'!  : )  Granted, the only ones that have rubbed are close family (mom, MIL, aunts), and I wouldn?t want a stranger touching me, but knowing they want to "touch" me, makes me feel the love they have for the babies already.

Am I the only crazy liking to feel like Buddha?!

  • I wouldn't personally know but no I don't think your crazy. Some people just don't like it and that is fine. I always looked at it like shaking hands vs. kisses on cheek or hugs. Some people just like to keep distance and others are more affectionate and use hands for everything. I would honestly feel uncomfortable with random strangers touching but when it comes to close family and friends, I don't think I would have a problem either. I would be proud to rock that belly after such hard work. Wink Rub away and deposit a dollar in the bucket while your at it. hahahahaha

Maybe that is what it is!  It took me so long to get a belly, that I want to flaunt it?!  LOL  No se.  And yeah, it would be nice to charge per rub.  LOL  Build up their college fund

  • I use to like it also :) but I understand the other side. Some random woman once came up to me at Publix did not ask and just started rubbing. I was like wtf?

  • lol I don't think you're crazy at all but I personally HATED it! I didn't even let my mom do it without getting annoyed. Idk, I just think it's weird.

  • Yeah, I didn't like it.  And I don't like rubbing friends' preggo bellies, either!  I loved being pregnant, but rubbing another woman's belly is like rubbing another woman's breast, to me.  It weirds me out!

    LMAO!

Since reading all those comments in the past, and now, I don't rub others' bellies... I respect, unless they say "feel baby."  But if they wish to rub mine, just make sure you give both babies fair lovin'

  • I don't mind people I know rubbing my belly so far.  But, my bump isn't that noticeable yet, so the only ones who have rubbed it are my mom, my DH, my principal (who could be like my grandma), and some of the office aids that are super excited for me.  Since they all mean well, I like it.  I don't think I would like a stranger touching me since I'm not a touchy-feely person anyway.  I definitely don't touch other pregnant women's bellies unless they ask me to.  My personal boundaries are pretty well-defined, lol.

  • I like it too!  But there are some people that ick me out when they touch me.  I don't make a fuss and let anyone who wants touch the belly, but there are a few people I could live w/o ever touching me. lol.

I don't mind when someone I know does it either. If it is a stranger, then it is a bit awkward and intrusive.

  • I actually didn't mind it too much as long as it was someone I knew. The only time it got kinda awkward is when my regional manager at the time (& was kinda weird & douchetastic) leaned over to rub my belly and I conveniantly dashed to answer the phone that was ringing LOL

Other than that one occasion, I actually loved when people showed little C some lovin ;)

  • I only let DH rubbed my belly. Most ppl thought it was an invasion of privacy.  And I'm glad b/c some ppl at church tried to touch my belly and I took a step back, uhmm...just cause I have a baby in my belly doesn't mean you can just touch it!!!  These are ppl I see weekly but I don't have that type of relationship w/them.  Then again, some of them have felt the need to uncover the stroller (I put a blanket on it) when DD is sleeping.  I'm like HELLO MCFLY, she's a sleep.
  • I mind. I hated when people touched my belly and she wasn't even moving enough to feel outside of my belly!! I was like srsly...wtf?!?!

Now that she kicks and hiccups I don't mind a select few (read: family) touching the belly. This ONLY happens when she is moving, otherwise it's pointless.

At my baby shower all I did was smile politely and try to get out of there when someone was OMG BELLY MUST RUB!!!! -__-() I don't get why people feel they must touch your stomach. I don't touch yours without asking?! LOL.

My husband is the only one with belly privileges from the very beginning. Smile

  • I heard of people being weird with people touching there bellies.  I don't mind it at all.  Granted I haven't had any random strangers do it.  I was guilty as a belly rubber before I ever became pregnant, but only to people I knew.  I always thought a pregnant woman was so beautiful and my hand went there almost without thinking.  ( I guess it's good I don't mind lol)
