Babies: 9 - 12 Months

remember when you were 39 weeks.....

pregnant & you just wanted it to be over! I was just lurking on 3rd tri & there are a few 37, 38, 39 weekers who "swear" they wont make it to 40 weeks because they are 2 cm. dilated! What I would give to ENJOY those last few weeks!!!

I was 5 cm. for 3 weeks & NOTHING happened! They broke my water the day before my due date b/c I was 7cm. & had no idea. Next time I'm going to enjoy it = )

  • I actually never felt so uncomfortable that I wanted to be done with it all. I also knew I would miss being pregnant so I cherished it.
  • No. :)  I only made it to 34 weeks.  I never had that "I just want the baby to come" feeling.  I had the "Holy shiit, this baby is coming now?  We haven't even painted the nursery yet!" feeling.

  • I never made it to 39 weeks, heck I didn't make it to 36 weeks.  lol  but I know what you mean
  • I never made it to 39 weeks.  I had DD at 36 weeks.  I was so scared when my water broke.

  • if my next pregnancy is as horrible as this one was i will be just as anxious.  there was no "cherishing" my pregnant moments.  i swear i have borderline ptsd from pregnancy.

  • I just reached 37 weeks, when dd decided to come out!  I was a bit disappointed that I didn't reach 40 weeks...I was looking forward to seeing how mentally and physically I would change.  I never got bloated, tired, swollen, or anything like that.  I kind of felt cheated for a while there.  :(

  • DS was born on my day of 39 weeks but i had a slow leak for 2 days then it finally broke and i still had to wait my 24hrs to be induced....oh lord that week was so stressful! but i do remember wanting it to be over and ITA - next time- no rush!!
  • I did not make it to 39 weeks Embarrassed
  • I so wish I had made it to 39 weeks. I was induced at 37, and I am so disappointed that I never got to experience that "waiting for labor signs" feeling.

  • My water broke at 39 weeks exactly.  I was really uncomfortable and in the panicky nesting/OCD cleaning mode while having what I thought were braxton hicks.  I had just finished cleaning our bedroom and setting up the co-sleeper and settling in for the night when my water broke and I had a major "holy sh!t" contraction.

I was a day away from 42 weeks so I was more than ready to be done.  And it was a cooler summer than usual in Michigan, but it was still too hot to be eight months pregnant during it.

  • I was in no hurry my first time.  I knew it would happen when it was supposed to.  Fortunately I had a wonderful pregnancy and was not miserable.  On the day I was supposed to be induced, I went into labor on my own!  Which was one year ago today!
  • I was in full blown, rip the pillow in half, back labor and only 1cm on my EDD.  The nurse did an internal and I went to 4cm within 10 minutes...ouch!

That is the same with me.  I had one of the easiest pregnancies ever, my doctor said it was because I was young.  I went to 41 weeks and I loved every moment of it I never had that day where I just wanted it to be over.  I miss being prego I would do it again, but not having any money kind of puts up a red flag for sticking with one baby for right now.

  • Well I was 3cm at 36w and had DD at 38w.  Could happen =D
  • I was never 39 weeks. First pregnancy they were born at 23 weeks and died. Next pregnancy I was so psychotically paranoid of him dying from the same cause (placental abruption) that once I passed the threshold where he'd likely be ok if born, I couldn't wait for him to get out and we induced at 38 weeks (would have been 37 but his lungs weren't mature). Don't regret it for a second, I was miserable at the end, not physically but because I was so scared he'd die before we could get him out. If I'm ever pregnant again I imagine we'll do the same.

This was me. I did cry that I wanted my baby, but my water broke a few hours later.

  • DS was born when I was 39 weeks. I never really got to the point where I just wanted it to be over...another week and I probably would've.

I wanted it over because I wanted to hold my baby in my arms so bad and my ribs and back were killing me, but yeah, I definitely wish I had enjoyed those last few weeks more - and just believed that I wouldn't have been pregnant forever haha
  • Not really.  I really loved being pregnant and wasn't to the point of being impatient when LO was born (39w6d), I assumed I would go late so I was surprised when I went into labor before my due date, and I refused internals so I wasn't going crazy over how dilated I was (or wasn't)

  • HAHAH YES! Oh my gosh! I was miserable and "wanted that kid OUT" hahahahahaha
  • I was fortunate enough to have a pretty smooth pregnancy, and I loved ever minute of it.

Of course I was hella uncomfortable towards the end, but everyone goes through that.

39 weeks? Didn't have time to experience 39 weeks. I was in the hospital, screaming in pain at 39w2d, DS was born later that night.

  • ya... I didn't enjoy making it to 41 weeks either time...

    :)

I told myself after DD1 that I would stress less and enjoy it more. But when you're (me at least) that far along and as uncomfortable as I was, I was ready to be DONE.

  • I was no longer pregnant at 39 weeks :)
  • No kidding!  Although I didn't complain much and wasn't uncomfortable despite being a week late.  I was 3cm for the last 1-2 weeks...it means nothing.

Your world changes in an instant as soon as that baby is born...enjoy those last few days/weeks!

  • I never made it to 39 weeks either.  DD came at 38w3d.  And by that time, I was ready.  However, I didn't have a bag packed or anything, but emotionally I was ready.

  • i was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced for THREE weeks starting at 38 weeks ... i knew she wasn't coming anytime soon and i wasn't worried. the longer she decided to stay in there, the longer i could work.

  • At 39 weeks I was ready for it to be over, but I had a feeling I would be over do. I was 2 weeks past due. I was dilated 2 cm by then.
