Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what time does your 8 month old go to bed?

Just wondering because Aiden is till not STTN regularly (he will tease us with 2-3 days in a row; then back to getting up between 2-4am) We have tried moving his bedtime a little later and he still wakes up...any suggestions?

Re: what time does your 8 month old go to bed?

  • Cedric goes to bed at 8pm...but he still wakes up to nurse around 1 or 2 am.  So I guess I'm no help.

  • 7 pm. If we try to push it any later we wind up with a major meltdown.

No suggestions other than I have always heard pedi's say between 7 and 8 pm for infants.

  • H almost always sttn but this week she has been sleeping from about 9pm - 8am. She always has an 8 ounce bottle with 2 tbs. of plain rice cereal right before bed. I dont know if the cereal does anything to make her sleep longer.. but she likes it. Good luck
  • 7-7:30pm and STTN for the most part

  • We did some sleep training around 7 months, and since then DD has been going to bed around 7pm.  She does still wake up once around 3-4am to nurse and then goes back to sleep until 6:30-7am.

  • Between 7:15-730 she goes to bed. She would still wake for a bottle...I think they just drop it one day when they are ready. For the longest time DD would STTN a few days in a row, then wake for a bottle a few days in a row. I have no idea why some nights she wanted it and some she didnt...who knows.
  • DD went to bed at 7pm at that age (still does, actually). She STTN most of the time, but does wake up pretty regularly around 2am.

  • im no help either unless to say you're not alone. corbin has been only taking two naps a day for the past few weeks and then going to bed at about 6-7pm. he sleeps for about 4-5 hours then wakes up to nurse about every 2-3 hours after that until 7-8am when he's up for the day.

  • B goes down around 6 or 6:30 and wakes up for the day at 6 a.m. (sometimes 5:45). She's been doing this since around 3 months. You might actually try putting him down earlier, rather than later, as sleep promotes sleep. I know it sounds weird, but the earlier you put them down, the later they'll sleep.
  • about 7pm.  He was sttn more, but the past two weeks he has been up a lot.  not sure if it is teething or what.
  • Always move a bedtime earlier to address broken sleep issues. Sleep begets sleep and if LO enters nighttime sleep in a calm state as opposed to an overtired one, he will spend more time in deep sleep and be less likely to arouse fully during sleep transitions (deep to REM, for example).

  • 7pm.  He's always gone to bed somewhere between 6:30-7:30.  He slept through the night until 3 months old.  Now he wakes up 1 -2 times and occasionally STTN.

    Good luck.

  • Between 6:30-7

  • I've got a 7 month old--he sleeps from about 6:30pm (if we can get him down at that time, sometimes its 7, 7:30, rarely 8).  He wakes up around 5:30.  There is a RARE day he will sleep in til 6:30 or 7.  He's STTN.
  • depending on what time he woke up from his afternoon nap anywhere from 6:30-7:30 usually.  (generally around 6:30 lately though).  He has STTN a handful of times, but usually gets up between 2-4 for a bottle (which I don't mind at all b/c until about a month or two ago he was still up every 2 hours).
  • DD goes to bed between 10 and 11.  She wakes at 8 to eat then back to bed till 10.  Around 9:30 we give her solids.  The only reason we got on this schedule is because I work nights and DD put herself on this schedule.  There was a phase she woke at 4am and I  would get up to feed her, finally I knew she didnt need that feeding so I stopped feeding her at 4 and now she doesnt wake up at 4 anymore, too bad mommy is still on that 4am waking time.
  • Usually 7 pm, sometimes closer to 8 pm if we are out doing something. She gets up between 6:30-7:30 am most days and is pretty much STTN. She sometimes still wakes me up by crying out some nights, some nights she doesn't make a peep.
