Not for DD, but we're considering the name Mariana if we ever have another DD, which feels like kind of the same thing (my name is Anna, pronounced like Ana).
I am not a fan of naming children after myself. I prefer honoring other people in my life. I changed DS name from Christian to Dillon because I was too weirded out that people may call him Chris one day and people call me Kris a lot.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I am considering using my mn for DD mn. My fn is okay but I like mn better. I don't see anything wrong with naming your DD after yourself. Fathers do it why can't mothers.
We went with my husband's mom's name as the first, but call the baby by the middle name we picked out. The reverse order didn't sound as good.
Naming the baby after his mom was a total surprise to her. So, unless you've told your mom you are going to name the baby after her, I'd go with your name as the middle if it sounds the best.
I considered using my mn as a girl's mn and also considered using DH's fn as a boy's mn (we ended up using DH's mn and FIL's fn for my son's mn). As a pp mentioned, we name boys after their fathers all the time, why is it weird to use our names as mothers? Also, this did used to be pretty common in the 1800s. Some mothers even named their daughters directly after themselves - same first names.
IMO i wouldnt use my first name for my child's mn just because i think it would be too weird. I would definately use my mother's though.
Oh really? Can you explain why? Our ds' mn is my dh's first name. Just curious to see why it would be weird. Thx.
Well like i said that is just my opinion. Me and Dh like the idea of using our mn's instead of our fn's and we plan to do so. I have nothing against people using their fn's for their children, and i actually know a lot of people who have done that. I should have made that clear in my first post and i am sorry if i offended you.

No you did not offend me at all. I'm just curious that's all. I hope I didn't imply that I was offended. I'm just brainstorming and trying to come up with the name. As you can probably tell, it's been a real tough process naming this kid. First, we have a new name every other week, so I'm sure we'll end up naming her in the hospital. Secondly, I'm hoping that choosing the mn won't be a process either. And sorry. what is fn? Family name?
My middle name is my dad's first name (Lynn). The main reason my parents chose it as mn is the way it flowed with my first. So go with your first name if you think it flows better.

I'm using my mom's name as a middle name. I think you just need to decide what you want the significance of the name to be..if you want to honor your mom then I wouldn't worry about how it sounds. Most people don't even use their middle names! it's just a filler and perfect for use of those names that are tributes to someone you love.

i wouldn't name any of our children after us or our parents but that's just my personal preference. i want my children to have their own identities and separate names from family members they will be around all the time.

I'm really not a fan of parents using their name as their child's name. I can see naming your child after someone improtant in your life as an honor though.
Have you thought about using your maiden name as a mn? Or using a name that has the same first letter as your mom's name in a mn for your baby?
