Alabama Babies

Food Ideas

Abby is almost completely on tablefood/breastmilk now. I feel like I'm feeding her the same thing all the time.

Right now her meals consist of:

-veggies (I buy the frozen kind)

-Gerber meat sticks (Abby LOVES these; just fyi for those that didn't want to do the ground meat-they are easy to chew)

-cheese

-fruit--Right now I'm just doing the canned unsweetened pears, peaches, and applesauce and fresh bananas; they've been the easiest for her to chew

-baby oatmeal

I bought a couple of the Gerber toddler meals (just for some variety), but I don't want to get in the habit of feeding her a ton of processed stuff. Any ideas or suggestions??

Re: Food Ideas

  • We pretty much just feed J whatever we eat, plus a plain veggie (if we aren't eating one).  Last night, he gobbled up the chicken spaghetti!   We also buy the toddler meals for something quick if what we are eating isn't kid friendly.  They have this tiny pasta (Pastini...I think) that is star shaped and I boil that in chicken broth sometimes for "chicken noodle soup".

I also feel like he eats the same stuff over and over.  For snacks and all, my list looks about like yours :)

Have you tried the Yo Baby yogurts?  They have a fruit puree on the bottom, and he LOVES them! I also found a 3-in-1 yogurt/fruit/veggie mix a few times, but I haven't found anyone carrying them anymore :(

Thanks! I hope she will, I know I can't feed it to J fast enough!

  • Oh, and I have recently bought a cantaloupe and watermelon, he loves those too (for a different fruit)
  • Those are two of my favorites so I can't wait for Abby to try them!
  • I feel like it's so tough when they're in the "transitional eating" phase! And even though Mason is 5 mos older than Abby, he's recently reverting back to eating baby food {yes, the pureed gooey stuff that he ate 9 months ago!}. I have no idea why he'd want me to spoon-feed him when he's so independent in every other facet.

Back on track, here's a link with some great toddler food ideas:

    Grilled Cheese Sandwich Bites

    Scrambled Eggs

    Mashed potatoes

Also, have you seen the Revolution Foods mashable fruit purees? Brooke's friend introduced me to them and we've been hooked since!

At our local WalMart they sometimes have it but more often than not, they're out of it. They definitely carry it at Whole Foods though =)

  • the yobaby is G's favorite!  he eats it almost every day.  they have it at publix too.

a couple of his favorite things right now are pancakes (and sweet potato pancakes!) and raspberries.

I saw it in Publix the other day.

My SIL used to feed my niece little pieces of pancakes and blueberries, cut up grilled cheese, and pieces of noodles that she had cooked in chicken broth along with a lot of things you have listed.  Also my niece is funny in that she likes just plain lettuce lol...she still eats it and carrots with no dressing or anything and she's almost 5.

They have it at Walmart here too, but Kroger has a larger variety of flavors.
