"Twins?"

I have gotten this a few times before...but three times tonight at walmart. People look at me (follow me with their eyes actually) and then say "twins?" I usually nod and smile and I am proud to be having twins. But after the third time I was like...damn! How big do I look??? Hubby looked at me after we left and was like "isn't that kinda rude? What if you weren't carrying twins?"

See! Hubby gets it!  I don't mind too much because I AM carrying twins, but yeah, if I weren't I would be crying when they asked!

Also, one lady kept asking questions: "Are you due any time now? Are they going to induce you?"

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay have a nice day!

  • I know exactly what you mean!! People are sooo rude! They feel like when you tell them you are having twins it is a free license to say whatever they want. They especially get animated when I tell them it is twin boys. But I just respond with all babies are a blessing, and tell them how excited we are.

  • LOL the recent comments I've had are "when are you due? Tomorrow??". I responded with "nope, I'm having triplets." and left them with their jaw on the floor. Another was in the elevator at the hospital. She aske when I was due and I said "in a few weeks". DH was confused but I didn't want to get into a convo. She said "oh....you will have a very healthy baby!".

  • People really are rude!  I have not told anyone other than immediate family and my boss that I am carrying twins.  People at work ask me all the time, and I always say "Am I really that big?" or "Did I gain that much?"  I usually hope this will make them change the subject, but recently, people started answering "yes" when I ask those questions.  I don't know how I am going to keep this a secret for the next 4 months, but I don't want to hear any rude comments about how am I going to function with so many kids that young.

Towards the end I would tell people that I was due soon.  Yes I love all of my boys, carrying twins I guess is "neat" (since not many people get to experience it), but it gets old after a while.

  • SERIOUSLY! I feel like we could all put together a pretty good book called "What Not to Say to Pregnant Women".....

Just because I'm having twins doesn't mean I don't mind when people say things like that! I'm also very vague about when I'm due.... Technically it's July 20 but 38 weeks is July 6 which is when my doctor said they'll let me go to.... so I just say I'm due at the beginning of July....
