Babies: 9 - 12 Months

9month appt & sleep

Embarrassed

Yesterday, DD had her 9 month appt. Everything went well. She is 24lbs and 28.5in. She had to have her finger pricked for blood. The nurse said that was the fastest she has ever gotten blood from a LO. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

We have 2 peds in the practice: 1 male; 1 female. I love the male ped. He is super warm, caring, etc.. The female ped is a little bit more blunt, which is originally why I liked the practice.

She was doing DD's check up. She asked about sleeping. We have been co-sleeping, but it hasn't been working. No one is getting sleep. She asked what time she went to be and got up. Then I made a remark about her still waking. She doesn't wake for a full feeding, but she nurses back to sleep. This is the face I got. Indifferent

She said it is just a habit and we need to stop now. We agreed we needed to do sleep training....AGAIN!

Last night she slept from 6:30pm-6:40am. She woke multiple times, but only for brief moments.

  •  I wouldnt get yourself upset about it.  Do what is working for you....your daughter is healthy, and happy :)  The no cry sleep solution has some good ideas about getting rid of night time feedings.  My dr. was actually very kind about it, but I know his partner would have been really tough.  My dr. actually told me how difficult it is from a father's perspective and what worked for his wife and him.

We went more into detail about it and she told us about what she had to do with her 2 kids. I suppose it helps when you know that they have been through it.

I feel like I have read every book on sleep and nothing works for the long run. Part of it is me. She will be doing well and then something happens: she gets sick, she is teething, etc.. There is always something to sideline the training. I told DH I need him to help me b/c the crying kills me.

  • Don't feel bad.  DS has never STTN.  I plan to ask the pedi about it next week.
