did it still fit after your milk came in or was it a complete waste of money? I'm debating buying just one for now to bring to the hospital, but I don't want to spend money on something that may or may not fit.
my breasts were so engorged in the hospital and were about the same size when my milk came in, so I bought larger bras. once my body regulated my supply more I needed smaller ones anyway. I would definately bring a larger one to the hospital...chances are you will be pretty engorged.

Did you get the cup size larger, or was an increase in band size enough?
I would recommend picking up a couple sports bras to wear until your engorgement goes down. Your breast size is going to change dramatically when you go from pregnant to engorged to not-engorged-breastfeeding, so there's no telling what size you're going to eventually end up in. The last thing you want is a nursing bra that doesn't fit correctly. A sportbra is nice when you're engorged because there's no underwire and they don't "force" your boobs into a specific shape like a bra with cups does. They also hold your boobs in place better, so they don't shift as much when you move around (any movement at all is going to hurt when you're engorged).
I would just get a couple nursing tanks. They are far more forgiving for fit and are very comfortable. Plus they keep your tummy covered while nursing.
Once your supply has regulated you can buy a nursing bra.

Ditto. The tanks were great in the hospital, and I still wear them all the time! (@Target)
I wore nursing tanks for the first 2 weeks, and then bought nursing bras once I had a better idea what size my boobs would be for the long haul. I still wear the tanks to sleep in and on days that I'm hanging around the house.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer.
3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book.
IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d.
I wore the Bravada basic bra which is great. Very soft. Panel folds down completely for easier access for nursing. I would not have wanted a sports bra because I would have had to squeeze my breast out and it was too tender to do that. Bigger size is better for the same reason. You just want loose support. My tank ended up being a little tight adn I found it painful on my stomach (I had a c-sec). I just wore a loose tank that I could pull down one shoulder and then bra panel.

I agree 100%! I love my nursing tanks! I have about 5 bras, but I rarely wear them.

Same! I think I only wore the sleep bra...
