OMG must ALL maternity clothes be HIDEOUS???

Ok, I've got pants covered, where can I get tops that dont look like tents?   I found a few cute Ts and Tanks on Gap.com. but I cant wear tanks and Ts to work by themselves?????  Anyone have any brands that I can look for on ebay?  Any advise for cuter maternity?  Some co-workers have suggested Kohls but the web looks like a big NO...

  • doesn't Heidi Klum have a maternity line somewhere?

I can't imagine her stuff being hideous, although it's probably expensive.

  • I purchased a lot of my maternity work clothes from Ann Taylor LOFT.

  • Nordstroms sells maternity clothing online. It can be kinda pricey but their sales are good and if you're looking for staple items to mix and match, might be worth looking at.

Pea in the Pod, too, obviously.

  • apeainthepod.com sells Heidi Klum's line.  It's a bit pricey for my taste, but i wouldn't call it extremely expensive....
  • Motherhood Maternity sells Heidi Klum's line.  You can get pieces for $10 on Amazon + shipping (I'm not sure of the cost in store).  Old Navy also has cute maternity clothes, you can either find a location near you that sells it or you can buy online.  Kohl's has some cute stuff too.  I have found great items on clearance that are perfect for the fall.

  • I rarely buy/wear maternity tops.  I would so much rather just wear fitted shirts and just buy one size higher when the belly starts getting tight.  I have an entire maternity wardrobe of just regular tops... I do wear maternity pants and dresses though - you can get cute non-maternity dresses now.

I bought about 5 true maternity shirts (empire waist, flowy on the bottom, etc) when I was pregnant with DD 4 years ago and I just sold them on ebay with the tags still attached.   I hated them.  With DS, I wore regular shirts for my entire pregnancy.

Sweet Pea has some cute maternity tops, but honestly, your best bet is a Pea in the Pod or Mimi Maternity... or regular clothes, but one size up.

  • I got pretty much all of my maternity shirts from Old Navy. They were not tents and I LOVED them.
  • there is lots of maternity clothes online, milan maternity and many others, just google it!

  • My advice is to not buy maternity tops! I didn't buy a single maternity top for my first pregnancy and don't plan on it for my second. I bought regular tops in larger sizes, and wore tanks underneath if they happened to be on the shorter side and didn't cover my belly. . Flowy tops are in- which makes it easy to find tops that work for pregnant women.

She does have a line- but it's "meh" in my opinion! I expected it to be much cuter.

    Totally this!! I was disappointed

This summer I plan on flowy tops and layering.  It's always freezing in my office so work will be no problem.  For going out I'm going to try to find mostly dresses but alot of the non-maternity tops that are out right now are that peasant style anyways.

BTW don't buy too much, you don't know what kind of weight you'll gain!  I bought tops from Old Navy weeks ago because they were on sale and they're still all way too big!

This.  I thought it would be cuter... it was just kind of blah.  A lot of grey and black and the tops aren't even that fitted.  I am pretty small-framed (size 4, 5'4) and they would make me look like a whale because of all of the extra fabric.  Didn't really see the point...

  • Buy tops from Target or Motherhood Maternity, cheap, but ok quality to last for a while, then layer them with pre-pregnancy sweaters, wraps,  cute drapy styles from Forever 21 work for me. I still have my tops, but know its for only a while more, and the sweaters/wraps I either already had, or spent just a few bucks on at Forever21 and will be able to wear them with regular tops post-pregancy.  Oh, Old Navy Maxi dresses are also really cute, just maybe go up a size for a growing chest.  I dfinitly have a "staple" of gray and blck that goes with everything, but it's only for a bit.  But I agree, maternity clothes suck. Good luck though.

I did this also.  Mostly regular shirts, empire waist.

ON Maternity is humongous.  I have no idea why.  Their sizing is seriously off.  Even when I was 40w I still couldn't fit into xs stuff.

    Butting in from 6-12 -

I liked Target for dresses, Old Navy for shirts, and I found some inexpensive things at Ross (you REALLY have to dig) and Burlington Coat Factory  (ditto!). I had a couple of shirts from AT Loft that I loved. They discontinued their maternity line and then brought it back, so I'm not sure if their stuff is any good now. I did buy some jeans and a couple of shirts at Kohl's. I was all about stuff that was inexpensive and on sale when I was pregnant. Oh, and the stuff that fits when you're "cute pregnant" (about 20-32 weeks) won't fit when you're "huge pregnant" so it's almost like you have two maternity wardrobes. Of course, you ladies might not get as ridiculously ginormous as I did. good luck!

  • I found some cute stuff in the store at Kohls, but their website sucked. Also try Old Navy :)  Motherhood.com has several lines that are cute, also. Heidi Klum's line is on there
  • When I was pregnant with DS, I got a lot of clothes from this site:

They are pricey but really nice and fitted.  Plus they have decent sales from time to time.  You can also check for this brand on ebay if you don't want to pay full price.
