do you say something? I've noticed siggy pics/Facebook pics/blog pics of babies/toddlers in their car seats improperly. I always wonder if I should say anything.
i've only seen one once and i had to restrain myself b/c the friend would be really p*ssed and offended. plus, her DH is a cop, so you'd think she would know better.
and in retrospect (before i knew about the 1 yr AND 20 lbs law), last summer, i remember seeing my friend's LO's carseat FF and thinking hmm, that's weird, she's only 8 months, but not saying anything. if i had known, i probably would have. this was IRL though.
If they are younger than a year, depends on my relationship with them. If older, no although I don't know the child's weight I still don't understand. Re: the chest clip...keep in mind that they may not have it wrong. I take pics of DD sometimes with the chest clip over her belly but its usually when we're already parked and ready to get out so I'm taking her out of the seat and stop to snap a photo for whatever reason.
Me too!!! Like the chest clip down by their belly. I don't know what to so either!
YES! I've seen two of those lately. Chest clip is supposed to be level with the arm pits. My friend posted a picture of her newborn in the seat... chest clip touching the buckle. That's not going to hold the child in!
I recently had to give someone info about why RF is better than FF. It didn't go so well.
I just looked at my picture in siggy. The clip isn't up to his armpits but the little pads are in the way. And the instructions say that I have to have the pads on until a certain weight limit. So, the clip is in the correct spot, right?

Aren't the pads for the shoulders? To prevent the belt from cutting into his neck/shoulders?

I have a feeling I am not doing this right. I am going to go through my manual and figure it out!
Okay, I am looking at my manual. This is what it says...
"Make sure that harness covers do not interfere with placement of the chest clip at armpit level."
According to my picture, I have the clip on wrong. I will fix this the next time I strap him into the car seat.
I would think that, regardless of weight, the placement of the covers is less important than the placement of the chest clip. I would remove the covers if I couldn't get the chest clip in the right spot with them on.
Read my blog!
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!

My best friend turned her baby ff at 8months (he is 2wks older than DD) because he is a "big baby" and "will be happier seeing where he is going".....I said something. I wouldn't forgive myself if I kept quiet and something were to happen.
My best friend is in the UK so I told her that I had just read that it is recommended here to keep babies rf until they are 2 for safety reasons...she didn't comment or say anything back (this was through email) but I had to still say something!

That is a good point.
Well your LO isn't in a carseat in your pic now, so I don't know what it looked like )
Thanks for the input, ladies. I'm no car seat expert, but I do know a lot of requirements. I feel like keeping a baby safe is pretty important... I just never know when it's overstepping boundaries.
A friend just told me that she switched her son's carseat, and he's younger than 1 year so I said the law is 20lbs AND 1 year. She was so upset because she asked her BIL, who is a police officer, and he said it was fine. She was super freaked out that she had been driving her DS around unsafely. {is that a word, lol}
I asked about a certain car seat on a FB pic knowing the child was FF at 8 months old, hoping to hint at the wrong way the child was seated. I chose not to say anything. Somebody else grew the balls I lack and said something. I hope he turned the car seat around.
