Babies: 9 - 12 Months

My 11 month-old doesn't clap...

...but will wave.  Anything to worry about?  (WTETFY says he should be clapping - I know it's full of crap but it made me worry a little.)

Re: My 11 month-old doesn't clap...

  • DS clapped for the first time tonight and he's been waving for about a month.  Don't worry.

  • Eh, Ry just started started clapping like a month ago. My parents had to teach him. He wouldn't do it for me. I wouldn't worry. Ry barely waves though.
  • A doesn't do either when we say it. Sometimes I wonder if she knows what she is doing when she does. I wouldn't worry.

  • Mine doesn't do either and when I do it or try to do it for him he shows no interest.
  • DS doesn't either yet...don't worry he will when he's ready. I try not to stress about that stuff especially since DS was a preemie so I know it could be later

  • Mine doesn't either.  But he can get into a babyproofed cupboard and unscrew a childproof cap, so I'm not worried about it from a fine motor skills standpoint.  I am a little concerned about it from a communication standpoint, since he's a little delayed with verbal (he just started babbling last week), but I'm sure it's no big deal.
