do any of you know someone, or have any of you had a bad ET?
I have never seen anyone post about it, so I am not sure, but I am the only one I know who's had a terrible ET, and as of Friday, an even worse mock transfer.
My RE doesn't do the ER or ET, his affiliated office does it and it's pretty far from my RE's office. As it turns out, I have a very long cervix and a VERY forward tilted ute. Lucky me! as if I didn't have enough challenges being as old as the hills.
Does anyone know of resolutions for this? I know its a long shot, but I don't know where to look for this type of info.
My RE is having a consult with the Drs at his affiliated office about me, but I am trying to find out some info in the meantime.

IVF #3
I had a horrible ET with IVF #2. It was so bad, and my RE was having so many problems with my cervix that he was about 2 minutes away from starting an IV and knocking me out cold.
I apparently have a small vaginal cavity so he was using a pediatric speculum (is that what it's called?) to open everything up enough to get to my cervix. Then, he could get the catheter inserted. The more he tried the more tense I got and it was just a big mess.
It took about 30-45 minutes to get the catheter in. I don't have any information about it because thankfully I got pregnant and did not need to have another ET so we didn't investigate.
I didn't have the problem for IVF #1 (no clue why - and my same RE did my ET then too) but man, I had a horrible experience this last go around.
I?m sorry you are dealing with this and hope you get some answers soon!
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Its a stress you don't need! You aren't alone, but unfortunately everyone's situation is different so it may be best to have a chat with your doctor.
I had a disaster mock transfer (couldn't get in, blood everywhere). My ET was a bit better, but still took him 25 minutes to get in (and it hurt like he&ll). My cervix is also tiny and my ute is tilted. I'm planning on talking to my RE @ my next consulton the 21st to see what we can do b/c I'm still trying to find answers for the BFN!
Seeing LCB's happy ending gives me hope. Lots of luck!
I too have a crazy cervix. Very narrow and has a "j" shape. My dr. is planning to put a stitch in one to two days before to make for a smooth transfer. Not sure if this would help you since yours is long. But, might be worth asking.
GL to you!

The thing is, I had an office hysteroscopy and my RE was able to get into my ute within a minute. He said it's easier with a hysteroscope b/c he can use the camera to guide him into the cavity. my ET took an HOUR, and my mock 45 minutes, I was in pain and bled for 2 days after my mock on Friday
I had a terrible ET. I have a very narrow opening and a weird ute, I guess. The doctor doing my ET couldn't do it and after about 45 minutes had to call my RE in from home-on Superbowl Sunday! He had a tough time but was able to do it after numbing the area. I swear they tried every speculum and tool in the place on me. My mock transfers were equally bad.
I'm sorry you are struggling with this and hope they can find a resolution for you!
I hope my RE has suggestions. I'm terribly depressed - I can't go through what I experienced on Friday ever again.
also, I want to add that I will have a 2DT. That's what my RE does for his older patients who don't produce a lot eggs (I only had 4 last time and only 2 made it to trasnfer).
I really thought I was the only one who ever had a bad ET. I never saw anyone post about it before.
I'm so sorry you had a horrible experience.
I'm surprised as well that noone ever comments on this. I had issues with my HSG and IUI's due to my cervix, but I have not heard many posts about it. Thanks for sharing, at least I will know on my transfer date that I am not the only one who has this type of an experience.
GL and I will keep everything crossed for you!
Thank you IVF for our little miracles!!
and I have to say, I am a little relieved to see others who have had similar experinces. But more importantly, that despite having these issues, some have achieved pregnancy!
They used that cervical clamp on me too and it was so painful. I was sobbing on the table in pain - add a super full bladder to the mix and I was done. Needless to say I was not a nice patient that day.
I hope y'all figure something out! Like I said, my RE was so close to just knocking me out (like they do for ER). It might be easier to do that since your body will be totally relaxed and not tensing up with the pain and digging around for 45 minutes.
I had this problem during 2 mock transfers - first one they could NOT get in. 2 nd was stilll extremely hard even after Valium, but they got it eventually. For my ET they ordered a special catheter that is really flexible so he could get back in and around "the corner" to my tucked away ute.! The ET went perfectly - I was pleasantly surprised!
GL!
I don't think it would have been as strong as ER but it would have been enough to make the procedure manageable.
