I posted two weeks ago about teething, but it isn't teething afterall. DS has been in the hospital for almost two weeks with a staph and bacillus infection. He has had 2 MRI's and 5 surgeries. By all accounts he seems to be doing better and we were due to go home today but he is not acting like himself. I am very concerned to take him home right now. He is going to go ahead and stay tonight to watch his temp and because of some home health scheduling, but I am still really worried. He has a picc line and will continue IV antibiotics at home to continue fighting infection, but I can't help but fear that there is something else wrong or some other reason for his change in attitude today. This has been insane. No warning, no explanation. I certainly want to go home, but I'm honestly kind of afraid to.

OMG! I'm so sorry!!! I hope he gets soon quickly!!!
Hugs and prayers for you!
OMG, i'm so sorry that your LO is dealing with all of this? How did he get the infection?
Listen to your gut! If something is telling you he isn't okay, then he probably isn't -- your his mom, you would know. Push those Dr's to keep him!
Oh my gosh, that sounds so scary.
I am so sorry ... I hope he has a full recovery very soon.

trust your intuition and get some answers.
i hope he has a full recovery.
hang in there mama.
Thank you all!
FYI - They can't explain how he got it. He has no wounds to have gotten the infection into his blood stream. Most doctors have said it is just "bad luck". He is taking very strong antibiotics and I just had my first lesson on how to administer them an hour ago. I just can't believe how quickly we went from a healthy, chubby baby to spending two weeks in the hospital having surgery every other day.
I'm so sorry.
My T&P to you and your family.
I hope your son recovers quickly.
Please don't downplay your mother's intuition. I would voice your concern with your doctors before getting discharged from the hospital.
Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!
Stay until your sure!! Trust that Mommy instinct. Prayers he gets better soon!
