3rd Trimester

Team green ladies: clothing questions

Besides onsies/pajamas do you have any clothes? I have NO outfits for Cletus, not that I'm worried, but I was talking to a cousin and she thought it was a little odd.

Re: Team green ladies: clothing questions

  • We have about 10 neutral sleep n plays (may be what you call PJ's).  We went out and bought a bunch of gender specific clothes after DD1 was born.

  • Not really.  I bought a few duck pants/shirt sets but all you really need at first are onesies, snapfront tees, and sleepers anyways.

  • I had sleepers, some onsies and a few outfits that were purchased for my shower (I had several friends who bought me an outfit for the gender they were hoping for and a few who bought me one of each).  Other than that I didn't have anything really as far as clothes until after DS was born...then I bought a slew of stuff and my mom sent a slew of stuff to me as well.

Onsies and sleepers here.  I'm not into dressing them up, it's all about washable, easy, comfortable clothing for as long as possible.
  • That baby will have a closet full of clothes once he or she is born. :)
  • I have a handful of outfits that I got as gifts, but I didn't really buy any myself.  Well, I bought one for the hospital.  I figure I'm going to do a bigger shopping spree after LO is born and we know the gender and how big the little gaffer is.
  • I have 3 onsies and a pj set. I'm not buying any clothes until after the shower... I'm sure even on team green I'll get tons of clothes

This. I have a lot of sleepers. I have four gender specific outfits (two for each) that I just *had* to have when I was shopping. I'm going to give away the ones that aren't appropriate (or maybe save them for a future child).

I'm sure there will be a lot of online shopping in the days and weeks after LO is born.

  • Not really.  I told my mom that it's her job to go buy the baby gender-specific outfits, including LO's take-home outift, while we're still in the hospital.  I'm pretty sure she'll be up to the challenge :-)

But I'm not worried about having too many outfits since I plan on having LO in onesies for most of the summer (unless we're going somehwere or have visitors).

  • I have PJs and onsies that are gender neutral plus some cute gender specific and gender neutral "church" outfits that we got at consignment sales.  My sister gave me my nephew's 0-6 month clothes this weekend.  If we have a girl, I know that my mom with go on a spree.  I am not worried.  Once the baby is here and we are in a groove, I will take him/her shopping.

Thanks ladies, I was feeling VERY out of the loop glad to know I'm not.

  • We have a couple neutral items (like 5),  a boy going home outfit washed and packed and a girl going home outfits washed and packed. I then have two bags of clothes in the baby's closet - one bag of boy stuff and one bag of girl stuff. The receipt is taped to the bag and I'll return whichever I don't need after I have the baby.
  • I am technically not 3rd tri yet but have been lurking.

I agree with Juno's post. The coming home outfit will be neutral but we'll have a big bag of clothes picked out for whether it's a girl or boy and return the clothes that don't apply! :) I still want to be able to pick out little girl and boy clothes before and this way I can while still being team green.

  • I agree with a pp, with DS 1, we had maybe 6 neutral sleep n plays.DH left the hospital and purchased a gender specific outfit to bring the baby home from the hospital. It was something that WE wanted to do and had a blast with it!!

I was humored by the fact that my SIL was EXTREMELY bothered by the fact that we didn't have gender specific clothing. So the day she found out it was a boy, she ran out to the store and bought I think the department and 'overnighted' it! (yet it took a week to arrive b/c she had the wrong address!!) It still makes me laugh, but we wouldn't change what we did and are doing the exact same thing this time around too!!
