I need to clean my living/dining room carpet, BADLY. How much does it typically cost? What company is good to use? And does it really clean your carpets well? Did they move your furniture, or did you?
Both my MIL and I used Stanley Steemer and they were actually pretty good. I paid $240 for an area rug and the entire second floor of my house (about 4 rooms). Check to see if you can find any specials online too and yes, it cleans them VERY well. Its worth it to me because I have a dog who likes to pee on the carpet sometimes (sickening) and they get all the dirt from high traffic areas.
I just had it done at my mom's house that I am helping her put on the market. I found a local company that did 4 rooms, 2 hallways, and 2 sets of stairs for $120. They moved all of the furniture and put it back. The only the I had to do was pull out the sponge pads they put under furniture legs while it is drying.
Edit: They where able to get all but one small stain out. The carpet is 10 years old and looks pretty darn good. Defiantly worth the $120 it cost.
I also used Stanley Steamer to clean my two bedrooms upstairs for $99. There is a size limit to get that price but both the rooms we had done were18x16 rooms and qualified for that price. They moved the furniture within the room and whatever they didn't truly move the put on these foam block with plastic underneath and we just removed after the carpet was dry. It definitely made difference in the appreance and smell I would recommend and they are quick.
