Hello ladies,
Happy Monday ![]()
Just got my 40 OPK's for this month this is my first time trying to use them. My question is that FF says I will have three projected fertile days and then 5 possible projected ovulation days. I just started temping 2 days ago and this will be my first real chart. But I want to get a handle on knowing when do I start using the OPK's this month? and should I do them twice a day like I see some people recommend?
Re: When to start OPKs?
Since you aren't quite sure around when you ovulate I would start at cd13/14, I have ovulated as early as cd 16 and apparently as late as cd24 so I end up using alot of opks.
Once you get idea of average you will have a better idea of when to start!
I have ovulated as early as CD 10 before, and usually on CD12- so if I waited til 13/14 I would have missed it! I would start around CD9 if you have no idea. If you can tell us how long your cycle typically is, then we may be able to give you a better idea.
This was my 2nd cycle charting and first cycle using OPKs. My first cycle, I O'd on CD21, but I knew that it might be different this cycle, so I started on CD9. For me, that was too early and I ended up Oing on CD19. It really just depends on your cycle.
The OPKs might have a chart on the instructions....mine did. That will tell you when to start based on your shortest cycle length.

My Lack of Ovulation Chart
Being it your first month I would start 3 days after your last day of your period so CD7-CD10. I usually O around CD 17-21 but start OPK on CD 10 I am so glad I did this cycle because I got a positive this morning at CD12 which is VERY early for me
I just peed on my very first OPK today on CD10. woohoo! :-)
I figured it was better to start early since I've never done it before and so I'll know what a clear negative looks like. I'm going to try doing 1-2x/day through this week and see what happens. GL to you!

Oh, and I start testing 2x a day once the line starts getting pretty dark. Mine gets darker as O gets closer.
Today for example, it was about 60% darkness, compared to yesterdays which was more like 10%. I will test again this afternoon, and am betting it will be fully positive by tomorrow afternoon if not morning.
