Children's museum appropriate for 10mo old? What else for out of towner?

We will be visiting in July and I'm trying to plan our trip. DH has requested the planetarium, so we will be doing that as well.

We did the aquarium and the zoo last trip, though we might do the zoo again.

What else might be fun? Or at least doable for a LO that age?? We will of course have a stroller.

Oh! And I was considering a boat tour..any recs???

  • I think the Children's Museum is great, and I think it'd be fine for a 10 month old. A lot of the exhibits have "crawler only" areas....so little ones can play safely and do some things on their own.  Will you be here on a weekend? The museum is never too crowded during the week. We went on a Sunday morning when it opened, and it was great.

As far as boat tours, I have heard good things about Tall Ship Windy (I think that is the name). My mom's group went on a boat tour (with the kids), although I couldn't attend.

  • I know you said you did the aquarium last trip but they do have a ton of new things and it might still be fun! And did your LO see the aquarium? I would think at that age it might be something they could enjoy! Plus there is a new beluga whale baby and its adorable!

Boat tours are always awesome! Ive never been on one personally but I hear they are all good! Also navy pier is always a free option!

I find that chicago is a good town to just walk around and simply find things to do. Around every corner is something new and different!

  • We did the childrens museaum before and there are things to do for crawlers.  We also have done the boat tour of the chicago river/ lake michigan.  DS loved it.  He was about 9/10 months when we took him.  We did the Wendella  Tour ( if I remember correctly).  You board on lower wacker drive.  It was great.

  • take your lo to millenium park for sure.  Here is the link, but I am not sure if their kids summer calendar is up yet.

In summers past, they have concerts and events each day for kids.  There are some fun things for you little one to play in and look at.  And it is all free!
