With Mar, we just had the regular kind of baby swing that we promptly sold because she was never very fond of it.
So we're in the market for a new one now. I'm leaning towards the Graco SweetPeace one for two main reasons. It can swing side to side or front to back and because you can put the Graco infant seat in it as well.
Marion will be going to MDO this fall and I'm hoping this baby is one who will stay asleep in her car seat once the car stops and I can bring her in and pop her in the swing.
I'm not looking forward to how fug (JMO) this is and how big it is, but I think it's our best option.
Anybody use this and have any reviews on it? Or know of any other options? Or just have an opinion on swings in general? LOL.
PS - if you have one and want to sell it around Aug/Sept, let me know!
Re: Baby Swing Opinions & Reviews Please
That one looks so cool. I love it - "baby soothing center!"
We never used a swing with Sarah but got plenty of use out of our Rainforest one with Elizabeth, especially that first three months. She napped in it all the time, but eventually we moved her to her crib for naps at around four months and there were no problems.
I think there's nothing wrong with a swing as long as it works for you as a parent. I found that the swing came in very handy when managing the logistics of 2 under 2. Our swing and the baby gym got tons of use the second time around. That's my two cents.
We just bought the SweetPeace, after doing a lot of research. I can let you know how it works out in a few weeks after LO arrives! I liked that the Graco carseat can snap into it and I can take the seat out of the swing and move it around the house if LO falls asleep. We bought it at BRU with our 10% registry completion coupon plus a 20% off coupon, so it wasn't too bad price wise. We got the giraffe version, not the bear one, which I think is cuter.
I say go for it! We have a very fugly swing, but that thing worked magic! I hesitated to get it (the Fischer Price rainforest one) because it was so ugly. Once he started using it, I forgot that it was ugly and was so happy to have it. My main criteria was a swing that plugged in, and I was glad to have that.
This one seems great to me.
I thought the SweetPeace was cool, but it was too expensive IMO - I wasn't going to pay that for a swing and I was pretty sure nobody would have given it to me as a gift.
At Ian's daycare they had the Graco Lovin' Hug swing and he loved it. I had registered for a Fisher-Price swing that had a lift-out infant seat, but he didn't like it as much. The seat of my swing wasn't cradle-y enough, mine only had 2 speeds, and the seat wasn't like a bouncy seat like I'd originally thought. I should have exchanged it for another Lovin' Hug.
