headache since Saturday =(

I never used to suffer from headaches and during this pregnancy I have had several headaches so far.  I've noticed that if I'm going to get a headache, I usually wake up with a neckache and then it spreads from there.  This time, I have had a headache since Saturday!  I did make it to work today, but I feel like just crawling under the covers and getting more rest =(

Re: headache since Saturday =(

  • Feel better!  Pregnancy just does so many things to your body.  Unfortunately headaches are one of the many changes.

  • Oh no!  I'm so sorry.  Hope you feel better soon.

I know that they are part of pregnancy, and I've been getting them often too.  But I do suffer from them since very young.  I've noticed that a lot of times mine are induced due to dyhydration (sp)... maybe drinking more water would help?  Also, laying down w/ an icepack on my forehead usually helps a lot.

  • Definitely your hormones!  Drink a ton of water and if it continues call your OB.  I suffer from migraines and my OB called in something strong but safe.

  • Thanks, ladies!  I had some cafe con leche which I usually only have during the weekdays and it's feeling a little better.
  • Ugh, these are the worst! I hope the caffeine jolt helps. In addition to what PPs have said, I've noticed headaches come on if I'm a little warm, so maybe try paying attention to that. I had a terrible headache on Friday (and the worst sciatic pain I've ever experienced!), and I finally took one Tylenol and drank a Dr. Pepper. The headache eased up shortly thereafter. I hope you feel better very soon!

It has been very hot lately, so it could be that, too.  I'm starting to get the sciatic pain, too, after sitting for too long.  I wonder how it's going to be when we're further along - eeek!

  • I'm sorry you have had a headache all weekend!! Hope you feel better soon.  But seriously, headaches are part of pregnancy.  I don't remember where I actually read it, but it is said that women her normally have migraines will get m/s & nausea and those that never dealt w/migraines will have them during pregnancy.  This happened to me....for my 1st 5 mos, I was vomitting several times a day.  After that I only vomitted a couple times a week.  But never once suffered from a migraine.  As soon as Izzy was born, literally like a week later I had a migraine.  =(

Very interesting fact Cyn!  Thanks.  I guess I'm the one stuck w/ the vomitting and m/s.  Not sure which is worse though...

  • Chiming in late, but glad to hear that the cafe con leche is helping... I have suffered from migraines since I was about 12, but during my pregnancy I didn't even have one - of course, about a month after giving birth, they came back.

Anyhoo, I wanted to say that when I do have really bad headaches and migraines, drinking coffee doesn't always help, but drinking Coke does.  And for some reason, the fountain kind from McDonald's works much better than soda from a can.  I had a horrible migraine last week, took Motrin, drank coffee, had soda and finally what got rid of it was fast food with a Coke for lunch.  I really try to stay away from too much caffeine and junk food since I'm stil BFing, but I was desperate :-)

  • I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but who is the Gary I see the green ribbons posted for?

I'm new here, so I'm sorry if this is something well-known.
