2nd Trimester

I'm so sick of...

People telling me how "tiny" I still am, and that they were this big at 14 weeks.  Yeh, ok... I haven't gained much weight... maybe 5-8 pounds... which worries me on it's own... I don't need you to remind me!  And, then they go on to say  that they can feel thier babies move all the time (when they're one...two... three weeks behind me)... and I hardly do yet.

It freaks me out, and makes me worry.

Gah :(

Vent over.

  • You look great! forget about what everyone else says. You'll feel LO soon all the time.

  • If it makes you feel any better you are bigger than me and I've got almost a month on you. Yesterday I had people at church say they wouldn't have suspected me be pregnant. So I feel your pain, and people can be annoying. Vent Vent Vent away :)

Your bump is adorable though! Love that shot!

Try your best not to worry. If your doc is fine with your size and weight gain then who cares what anyone else thinks!??!   I gained 18 lbs total the day I delivered my son and was back to pre-preg weight within a month after delivery.  Just smile politely and say thank you.

And some people don't feel their babies till a little later on.  Relax...you will feel your boy, soon!  I don't think I felt 'real' movement until my early 20's weeks.  Good luck, chin up and enjoy!

  • I'm pretty sure I was still down some pounds with DD at 14 weeks.  I'm 13 weeks now and still not back up to my pre-pregnant weight due to m/s.  Don't worry about it.  Everyone grows at different rates!

ETA:  I'm sorry, I thought you were just 14 weeks.  Regardless, I was just showing at 20 weeks to people that didn't know me.  I wouldn't worry about it at all!

  • you have a definate baby bump!  I wish people would just refrain from making size comments at ALL.  Too big, too small, blerg . . . it's all relative, people!

andplusalso, it could just be not registering to you as "movement" if this is your first.  When I first started getting feelings of movement I had no clue what was going on until finally it clicked and I 'got it.'  Otherwise, it just felt like normal body stuff to me.

  • Don't listen to other people.  I never got huge and am on the smaller size this time too.  I was up 4-5 lbs at 15 weeks with only a little bump.  Up 11 lbs at 21 weeks.  I only gained 22lbs total with my son and he was a healthy 6lbs 11 oz at 38 weeks.  I was also back in my prepreg clothes by about 6 weeks.

  • I think you are fine...like PPs have said, everyone gains/grows differently. I realize I'm 4 weeks behind you, but I've only gained 1-2 pounds and am still wearing all my PP clothes. Nobody can tell I'm pregnant. I eat like a horse too. I really impress myself at times!

  • I need to buy a scale, haha.  I think I'm only up about 8 pounds.  Is that low?
  • You look great, and you wont have all the weight to loose after LO is born!! Everyone goes through their large weight gain at different times. Dont worry as long as you and LO are healthy. Smile

  • You look awesome and you are a small girl anyway!   As long as you are healthy don't let it bug you.  I have come to realize that people have comments to make ABOUT everything when you are pregnant...more then likely they are just jealous...my ex-sister-in-law gained 90 pounds with my niece, and she has nothing nice to say about me (she made some comment about being worried about me not gaining enough...so I get it.)
  • I'm only up 5 pounds and I'm almost 24 weeks.  It is all relative.  i will say I might have only put on 5 pounds, but my bump has grown by leaps and bounds the past 2 weeks.  I went from not showing AT ALL, to looking like i swallowed a basket ball.  Your body knows what it is doing.  Unless your doctor says something about your size i would not worry at all.  I obessessed about not showing for so long...now I miss wearing all my regular clothes.  The weight and size will come.

On a positive side... the less weight you gain the less you have to lose after the baby.  Also if I remember correctly, my pregnancy book said weight gain picked up around 22 weeks, so you might be shocked in the next few weeks how much weight you put on.

  • I never really believe people who say they feel definite fetal movement before 18 or so weeks.  One girl at work tried to tell me she felt it at 14 weeks.  Okay lady.

I will be ECSTATIC if I can keep my weight gain to a healthy minimum like you are.  As long as your doc isn't worried try not to be.  You look great!  Just think about all the weight you won't have to lose after you deliver!

My aunt is really petite and she gained a whopping total of 18 pounds the whole pregnancy.  Her LO is a happy, healthy 3 year old, normal size, and was 7 lbs when he was born.  Everyone is different!

  • Don't worry about it!  I didn't show at all with my first DS until I was 24 weeks!  I also didn't gain any weight until I hit 20 weeks.  I was a big worrying mess, but he turned out just fine.

Any movement is good movement at this stage too. :)
