Blood around sack? IUD?

Hey everyone.

I have been spotting since week 4 of this pregnancy, and this last week it turned bright red. My doc sent me for an ultrasound last Friday, where they discovered that there is old blood around the amniotic sack. I am being sent back for a follow up ultrasound in a few weeks, and have been told to "relax" and wait for it to clear up.

They also said that the blood can cause a miscarriage, but since I was so far along now and since baby looked good they think I am out of the woods.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with this?

If you had an IUD before this pregnancy, or got pregnant while using one, have you had a lot of spotting? (I am wondering if the blood is related to my Mirena.)

    My GF has a blood sack also but no BC...It went away eventually.

    I got pg on my second cycle off Mirena. I haven't had any spotting at all - just the normal morning sickness, tiredness, sore boobs, etc. My first OB appointment is tomorrow, so haven't had a sonogram or anything yet.

    I had the Mirena and I have not had any spotting at all.  GL!

    I just found out I am pregnant this past Friday. I had a m/c last month. I had the Mirena for about 9 months, had it taken out last August. I started spotting yesterday for a couple hours and today just a little, I think it is just Implantation bleeding, it is very very light.  I did however call my doctor just in case.
