Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

temp of 99.2

Last sunday, my daughter had the same temp off 99.2. It only lasted 1 day or so. Now a week later she has the same temp again. She has a cold along with it. (same as last week)

Any advice? is this weird? same virus? do you give tylenol for a low grade temp? She is still in a pretty good mood,

Re: temp of 99.2

  • I wouldn't even really call this a fever.   When normal body temp is 98.6, 99.2 is nothing.  No I wouldn't give anything for this.

  • My daughter had a temp of 99.5 when she had her cold.  She was still acting like herself so I didn't give her any tylenol or anything.  I usually don't unless if she has a high fever.

No I wouldn't give anything for this. She's just fighting off something & you want her to have a low grade fever like that if she is. Hope she feels better soon.

  • That's within the normal range of temps for people.  It's not a fever.

I wouldn't even consider that much of a temp, and would never give anything for that.  She could just be a little warm.
  • I only medicate if it seems that Brady is uncomfortable.  A fever is actually a good thing, and helps them get over what they are fighting.
  • I think technically it's not a fever until it's over 100.4?

I only give meds when the temp reaches 103 (I temp rectally).  That's my personal rule.

The body uses it's temperature intentionally.  I like to let it do it's work :)
