So we went out for brunch yesterday to a very nice restaurant that had a special Mother's Day buffett going on. They had the buffett servers/warmers all lined up on tables. So as my husband was in line an ENTIRE table fell. On him. The food covered his pants and shoes. The servers ran to try to catch the food. So my problem with the whole thing is that not one server, manager or restauarant employee asked my husband if he was ok or apologized. They were using flimsy tables and one of the legs gave out. My thoughts were what if my husband had actually been a small child, or what if he had actually gotten hurt and not just ruined clothes and shoes. I felt that someone should have at least came over to us and apologized and made sure he was ok. As were were leaving and paying my MIL said something to the manager about the fact that she felt it kind of rude that not one employee said anything to us and the manager just said, "Oh I didn't even know it happened and walked away." I guess considering we spend well over $100 on the brunch (there were 6 of us) and my husbands clothes were ruined and it was their fault they table fell someone should have said or done something. Am I crazy?
Re: Should the restaurant have done something?
At the very least, your husband should not have had to pay for his meal. Ideally, they should have covered your whole check and offered to pay to replace the clothing and shoes.
I'm kind of a wuss IRL so I wouldn't have said anything, but it would have made me angry.
that manager is not a good one....your husband's meal, if not all of them, should have been comped without the manager batting an eye.
All of this. Something similar happened to my DH once and they did offer to pay the dry cleaning bill and replace anything that needed to be replaced. However, I probably wouldn't have said anything if they didn't offer.
