So, my midwife only does things on an appt-by-appt basis - she doesn't really explain things to come. So, example, when I took my glucose tolerance test, I had no idea it was coming. Just walked into the office and was handed a drink. Also, she is due to have her own baby this week, so I start with the office's new midwife on Wed.
Therefore, I'm feeling just a little in the dark.
Will someone humor me and tell me - when do internals start again (if your dr does them)? And what is this GBS test that I keep hearing about/when is it done?
Thanks ladies!
Re: couple of newb questions
Every OB is different on the internals - mine doesn't normally do them until you hit your due date. They say that it's not a good indicator of anything - you could be fully closed and in labor that night, or walking around dilated for weeks.
GBS test was done at 37 weeks this time, but was supposed to be done at 36. Internals i think normally dont start till 38, but i had one at 37 as well.
Make a list of questions and bring them to your appt. Your midwife should be at the very least taking the time to answer your questions.
Also, my doctor's office gives out a packet of info on GBS, perineal massages, breastfeeding, circumcision, and signs of labor/when to call the doctor, etc. I would ask your MW/nurse/doctor's office if they have something like that they can give you.
