Product/lessoned learned advice for 1st time mom?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a first time mom living in the city? Products that work, products that dont work on baby?

Daycares to stay clear  from?

etc....

    Buy a good stroller for walking everywhere and a bundle me (or something like that) to use when it's cold.  We use our BOB Revolution to take DD wherever we're going (we bought the infant seat attachment so we were able to use it right away when she was born).
