burping

Do you girls ever not get a burp and does it always lead to gas pain for LO?  I tried and tried last night and this AM to get a burp and LO would not give it up!

She is FF and I use the Dr Brown's bottles...but I almost always get at least 1 good burp....

She was fussy when she got up from her nap and continued to be fussy even after she ate....so I am sure she's got a little air in there....

When Mikey was your DD's age he'd always have pent up gas.

Try sitting her up and rotating her torso clockwise so she looks like she's tipsy. Works like a charm!

  • That rotate-y thing is awesome!  Lying her on her back and doing "bicycle legs" is another good one, if the gas needs to come out the other end.  :)

  • We didn't/don't always get burps. They sometimes come out the other end. We had success with the bicycle legs too.

  • There were times that we'd work and work to get a burp out of LO, when he was that age.  Sometimes, it just never came.

I think, for my LO, the bottles we used (Born-Free) did their job and my son is a very efficient drinker--so there was very little air ingested.  We did learn though, that if he stopped mid-bottle, we had to wait or work for the burp.  If we did not honor his ques, we paid for it.  From a very early age, my LO has been very intuitive.

Good luck figuring out what your LO needs.  Sometimes it is a guessing game!

  • We are now using Dr. Brown's bottles and since the change Logan doesn't burp nearly as easily. When he doesn't it does cause him pain a while after eating and normally we can get one out then, but it takes much more work.

I always feel really bad for him because I know it's painful!

The only suggestion I have is to keep on trying. That's the only thing that seems to work for us.

Ditto this.  DS was a very hard burp and this trick worked just about all the time.
