If you have a toddler, do you feel that you should have a more educated child compared to other parents who stay at home and were not teachers?
I think I am asking this question wrong...i could be flamed! ![]()
I was a primary teacher and I have a 3 year old. I will get stuff like "Oh you must do (insert something like a,b.c, etc..) all the time with your kids."
Do you feel extra pressure b/c you were a teacher?
Re: If you were a teacher.....
Not yet because mine are babies. But I don't think they will be more educated that non-teacher's kid because it doesn't take a Masters in Education to teach ABCs and 123s, lol
I do plan on doing a LOT with them, tho!

I don't have any LOs yet, but I'm currently a preschool and infant teacher (working until LO arrives) and people do say things like that to me! I've just gotten some comments like "Your daughter is so lucky- you'll be able to teach her everything!" Like what, Wheels on the bus? LOL I don't really know what they expect me to teach her, but I will do what I would do regardless of my experience as a teacher.
I just consider myself lucky because I've collected so many books and toys that are "educational" that I can pass on to LO. She already has a good collection going!
I get that comment a lot. Or, if DD does something "impressive," people say, "Of course she can do that, her mom was a teacher."
It's a shame the comparisons and pressure have to start so early. Childhood is short enough as it is!
I get that a lot. I was a first grade teacher so i think people do expect her to be "advanced". While I do think that DD does very well for her age I don't really want to start thinking that she's "ahead" or smarter just cause we have fun doing what most moms and kids do.
I do find myself comparing her to other children-which i shouldn't, i know. But i can't help thinking that I am somehow going to fail her if she's not reading and writing super quickly. Too much unnecessary pressure!!!
