Not that I thought the name "Isabella" was uber creative or anything like that but I can't believe it's the #1 most common name in 2009. My kid is going to hate me.
I had no idea it was so freaking popular. I've never even met an "isabella" before.
Not to late to change it. But remember it's #1 because it is a really pretty name. Check the popularity in your area.
Sigh. I refuse to. I've always loved the name and have always said if I had a girl we'd name her Isabella. Luckily DH was on board. Besides, find me another name that translates the same in english, spanish and portuguese.
DD is a 2008 baby andI guess emma was at the top of the list and her name is Emily but Emily was up there to. I have yet to meet another baby named Emily!
that's why i am steering clear of Olivia, a name I really like and actually sounds good with our last name (a lot do not) but I don't want my kid to have that popular a name. and yet growing up, I knew of only two olivias: one in my elementary school class and Olivia Newton-John.
I don't know how or when it got so popular, but it's off my list now because of that.
I have a close friend whos DD is named just Bella and she is 7 now and wishes it was Isabella "because mom its more mature" LMAO we liked it too but it was too popular for us but up until this year it was a frontrunner since we got married
I actually had that on my "girl" list too. I saw the same story on the news today. I have been considering Isabel. I thought Izzy would be a cute nickname.

I love the nicknake Izzy! Isabella is awesome because you can come up with so many nicknames. I like Izzy, DH likes BELLA, Elle, Ella and the list goes ooooonnnn and onnnn.
Your kid won't hate you. I'm an '82 Jennifer and I do not hate my mama.
I agree with this too. I am a 1985 Lindsey. There were 6 of us in my first grade class. I never had a problem with it.
lol! I can imagine the teacher saying "jennifer!" and 6 little girls looking up and answering "yeeeesss?"
Uhhh...yeah. That is me.
Honestly, it doesn't even phase me. I like Isabella. My friend's mother is a beautiful Sophia Loren look a like with the name Isabella. I've loved it since then.

I absolutely love Isabella, but have a young cousin named just Bella and wouldn't want to hear the Twilight thing all the time (esp since I'm not a fan of it in the least). And as someone with a pretty common name too, I hated having others in my class with the same name. One or two you met every once in awhile is ok, but it gets old.

hey same here!! It was actually fun to talk with the other Lindsey's and see how they spelled their names.. We had lindsey's spelled all different ways in my class...
If it makes you feel any better I don't know any Isabella's either. It's a beautiful name, thus making it popular. IMO it's better than all the Madison's, Kaitlyn's, and Alyssa's I keep seeing. They seem to be everywhere!
?
I'm a 1983 Alyssa and I hate that it is such a popular name these days. ?When I was growing up there were NEVER any other Alyssa's. ? The only ones I know of now are all 8 and younger. ?The only other thing that annoys me is people call me Melissa all the time.. um, sorry, not my name. ?
Don't worry...I named my daughter Olivia. As of right now, we have yet to meet an Olivia her age and we do all sorts of activites, classes, groups. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's going to be in your immediate area. Besides, it's a pretty name!
Re: S/O baby names.. I'm pretty bummed.
Yep!

Unfortunately.
LOL. It's most popular in my state. Whoooo!

I'm an '82 Amanda. My two best friends are Jennifer, and we're all a few weeks apart from each other. I don't hate my mom, and neither do they
