can i blame the mini pill?

i was on the mini pill because i am still breastfeeding my 17 month but got pregnant.  i didn't know i was pregnant for over a week and was continuing to take the pill.  i miscarried at 5 weeks.  can i blame the pill?  i had absolutely no problems getting pregnant with DD and i'm scared to start thinking i will have trouble when we actually want to start TTC.  thoughts?

    Sure, you can blame the pill if you want.  I think we're all afraid of having problems, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it until the time comes.

    You can blame the pill or anything really but it might not be the reason you miscarried.  It could have been chromosomal like most early m/c are.

    I know a few people who got pregnant on the pill and went on to have healthy babies (my MIL with my husband). I'm going to guess they continued to take the pill until they realized they were pregnant.

    Point is, you will never know what caused your m/c so it is a lot of wasted energy trying to find blame in it (though understandable, we all want answers).  There's also no point in worrying about whether you will have issues getting pregnant because one m/c does not mean you will.

    You can, but it's not accurate.  I was on the full, combination pill when I got pregnant with K.  I liked to blame it for her heart defects, but it was not the culprit.

    And my fertility has been the same.  I got pregnant with K on the pill, and I got pregnant with Max 2 seconds after I got my IUD removed.

    The pill wouldn't cause you to m/c.  Unfortunately there are precious few answers for very early m/c.  Its incredibly frustrating sometimes.  I'm so sorry for your loss.
