If you've ever considered leaving home without your diaper bag...

...don't.
I was just dropping DH off at work, 5 minutes away, so I didn't bother bringing the diaper bag because I was only going to be gone for a few minutes. But on the way home I decided to make a quick pit-stop at a little baby boutique to return something, and Finnley decided to do the world's biggest, stinkiest poop right there in the store. And of course I happened to have her in a disposable instead of her usual cloth, so it came out her diaper, and went all over her (and my) clothes.
And I had nothing - no diapers, wipes, or change of clothes. Thank god it was a baby store and they had diapers in the bathroom - but they were size 1 (she wears size 4). So they barely covered her bum or did up around her waist. (Are you picturing a baby thong? Because that's how bad it was.). And then of course I had to buy her something to wear, because I didn't want to be that mom carrying around a naked baby. But I really didn't want to spend a bunch on an overpriced outfit, so I bought the cheapest thing they had: a $10 boy's sleeper several sizes too big. So picture me and my baby walking around the store, me covered in her poop, her dressed as a boy in a way-too-big pair of PJs wearing a diaper fit for a newborn.
So let this be a lesson to you all. Never leave home without your diaper bag. Ever!

I have left home without the diaper bag before, for very short trips, and have been lucky so far. I'll be more mindful next time. Lucky you were in a store with diapers and clothes!

This would totally happen to me if I didn't bring my diaper bag with me. I keep a small bag in the car w/diapers, wipes, and clothes. We have had too many close calls.

I have a few diapers, wipes and a receiving blanket in the car as a backup since I often leave for quick trips without the diaper bag.

OMG, this story is like straight out of the chick lit book "Tales From the Crib." I remember there being a scene almost like that in the book. lol
I'm sorry that happened to you. It is definitely Murphy's Law at work. I do occasionally go out sans diaper bag but now I usually throw in a spare diaper as a just in case.
I laughed so hard, I cried. That was awesome! I am so sorry for you, but I nearly died at baby thong image.
I keep meaning to make a back up, car only, diaper bag. This was a good reminder.
omg that is hilarious! You poor thing!
I actually had this happen to me once, but DS had a jacket on over top of his onesie so I took off the onesie and he wore just the jacket. Thank God it wasn't on me, too!
