Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Help! Skinny baby now refusing food!

Hey ladies...need your help/thoughts/advice. DS is 7 months today and has always been a little guy, but generally was following his own weight curve. Between 4 and 6 months though, he dropped from the 25th percentile to the 9th percentile, which made me and the doc a bit nervous. We upped the calories for each bottle and always offer him that before food, but recently it has become such a battle to get him to drink. On average this week, he was only taking 12-15 ounces. Obviously not enough. He takes solids twice a day, about 3 cubes each, but even fusses a bit through that.

Any thoughts on what I can do? Change bottles, change formula???

I feel your pain (I posted above). Even for my little girl, though, 12-15 ounces is not much. We're going to try out Zantac and thickening her bottle with cereal - thinking she might have reflux. Is he getting sick, possibly? I know she eats even less when she's catching a cold.

Does your LO have reflux? Is that the reason for the Zantac? I don't know if Cole does or not. He never used to spit up very much, but now it is a regular thing. I don't know about being sick. This has been going on for a while though, so I wouldn't think so???

  • zantac was a lifesaver for us.  we were hospitalized for weight issues early on and then again at 8 months

We're thinking she might. She has some of the signs, though not all. She never spits up a LOT, but she spits up frequently.
