Babies: 9 - 12 Months

My sister pisses me off

She was evicted along with her boyfriend and four month old son. They were doing drugs (exctasy, pot, cocaine and so much more). Rent was always late and the list goes on. The landlord also stated child neglect and animal neglect as reasoning for eviction.

I know for a fact that my sister leaves her 4 month old son at home w/o caring who's there to watch him while she goes out and parties. Her roommate walked into my sister's room because my nephew was screaming and her and her boyfriend were both gone. Nowhere to be seen. A four month old by himself in the middle of their bed. Something could have seriously happened. We've called DSS multiple times but they give two days notice for home visits. Good that does.

Well, today I  get a call that she left her minpin behind on the landlords doorstep (owner occupied rental) with a note stating she didn't want him and they needed to get rid of him and her former roommates could not have him. WTF??? I am so mad at her I could pop her in the face. She's my sister but she needs to grow up.

Sorry if grammar is awful but I needed to vent. I am so livid Im shaking. WTH do you do when you know there's nothing you can do....

Re: My sister pisses me off

  • No offense, but her behavior justifies more than just a "pisses me off."  She sounds like she needs serious help, rehab and some jail time.  And her son needs to taken away from her immediately.  I would do whatever I could to make this happen.

  • Honestly, my first thought was that you or your parents should adopt her DS until she can get her life in order.  That is not a safe environment for a baby!
  • What a tough situation for you!  I am sorry you have to go through all of that.  And your poor nephew!  I wish I had advice for this...but it sounds like you have tried so much already.

  • She needs a huge reality check and I know she's your sister but that baby needs to be given to someone who won't just leave him crying and screaming and actually be a parent.  Poor kid .. I feel most sorry for him .. makes my heart hurt because he's totally defenseless.  Crying

Well yah, but I'd rather not use vulgar language on a baby board.

What can you do when DSS is a pile of crap and it takes the local police two-three hours to respond???

  • leaving him alone?  where the F where they? when did they come back?

Out to buy more drugs or alcohol I assume.

They were back before the police responded. Hence, the lack of evidence and ground to take my nephew into child protective custody. Makes me sick. Utterly sick to know how he's being treated. My heart hurts so bad for him.

After reading your post, I wanted to throat punch your sister for being an a**hole.    I wish I could give you a step-by-step on how to take care of this situation, which sounds like it could end really badly if someone (law enforcement, family members, etc) does not step in and SOON.  Is there any family member that would take her baby while she got help?  Would she even consider this an option?

She wont give him to anyone and refuses to see she has issues and needs immediate help. My mom, sister or I would take him in a second. But, as a family member not a parent to the child you can't take him w/o permission.

I am sorry to hear all of this, but I feel sick over the fact she cares (or does not care) for her son through her addiction and obvious problems.  If I were you, I would try hard to build a case against her and have the law step in.   Which looking at your tickers, seems you have your hands pretty full right now...maybe your mom or other sister can the lead on this.

  • How do you know that the 4mo old is alone? Do you know when this happens? I would just call the police right away.

Dont even bother getting into the whole "my sisters 4mo old is alone and they do drugs and..."  Just call and tell them there is a baby alone in an apartment and they need to come check it out asap!

  • Mfrans- we only know when her roommates are home. They call my mom. She needs help and my nephew needs to be taken away :(
  • K is this your little sister, the one that...well you now...because that could explain a lot! Either way, I think you guys need to be more aggressive. She may be angry now but once she cleans up and see's that what you did/are doing is for the your nephews sake (and grows up) she will appreciate it.

I know this is the last thing you need to deal with right now being so close to your edd, but something has to happen before that baby gets hurt.

    Yep, its her!!!

  • I think your parents should contact a family lawyer and try to sue for custody. They should be able to document the neglect. I am so sorry though! that is so awful! that poor little boy. he is getting fed? you should give the cops their license plate and have them pull them over when they're driving. they might search the car and find drugs and decide to take the baby into foster care. i'll keep that little boy in my prayers!
  • I am so sorry. It sucks when the law doesn't help protect the little ones.
