I loooove the name Jake but steered clear due to popularity concerns.
Glad we did!
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Payton was 279 the year he was born last year down to 330. It is more popular as a girl name... Kyndall was 133 last year. I guess we picked pretty good names for not being overly popular.
dammit. Olivia moved up to #3. It was #7 and falling when Olivia was born. WTH? I really didn't want a trendy name, but I just loved that name so much!
oddly, for such a popular name, I have yet to run into another Olivia, even at her school.
I went back to check popularity by state, but it won't be available until May 14. That will be interesting to see too.
I looked at AZ for last year and it is funny to see all of the Hispanic names that are so common here - I bet other states down have nearly as many Alejandros, Angels, Jesuses, etc.!

Ugh. DD's name is in the 200s now. Was in the 300s when I got pregnant. I was hoping for it to go into the 800s. Oh well, as long as it doesn't go into the top 50.
If we have another girl.... the first name we'll give her is currently in the 300s.
Our boy's name isn't not the list, nor will it ever be.
Not suprised to see Isabella as #1. We named DD #1 Isabel and it was in the 80's the year she was born. My only pet peeve is that everyone constantly calls her Isabella. Guess that's what I get for picking an name that sounds sooooo close to a top contender.
DD's name isn't (and never has been) in the top 1000. DS's is 323, climbing from 355 last year. It seems to be getting popular though, especially on the bump, and it bothers me, a lot. I guess when you have one child that will probably never meet another person with her name (and that's what we wanted) it's hard to get used to. I know, I know, 300s is nothing! I bet it climbs a lot more for 2010 though, just basing it on what I've seen that last 6 months.
DD's was in the 300's for 2000 when she was born, now it's in the mid-600's. Her name is one that's not unheard of, but you certainly wouldn't call it a common name. It's recognizable because a character on a TV show from the 60's had the same name.
DS has a somewhat more common name, but it has gone down steadily in popularity as well. It was in the 90's when he was born, now it's about 130.
Re: Soc Security name list is out
LOL. Cole was:
2007 - 84
2008 - 85
2009 - 82
We're holding strong in the 80's.

My kids' names have steadily gotten less popular.
