Baby Bjorn--original v. active?

With DS#1 I received the original Bjorn as a shower gift.  I hated it because it hurt my back.  When I was pregnant with DS#2, I got a sling and a Baby Hawk carrier because they were supposed to be easier on the back.  Well, DS#2 hates both of them and only likes the Bjorn.  He is a pork chop (already 17 pounds at 5 months) and it is killing my back.  Does anyone happen to have the active Bjorn and know how it compares to the original.  I have to make the case to DH that it is worth it to buy the active.  See my reply in the "Bad feeling about mother's day" post re: my frustrating DH! This is supposed to be my "pick anything you want" mother's day present but he has a negative opinion on everything!

    I had/have the bjorn active and I had no problem carrying around Olivia when she was 19lbs.

    I have an ergo and while Ella Grace is only 14 pounds, I have worn a 30 pound 2 yo in the back carry and it was great!

    I have the Bjorn Air Carrier and we love it. So easy to get on/off, doesnt get hot, and is super light weight!

    I bought the Ergo about 2 weeks ago.  Although it's quite comfy for me to wear, DD kept turning her head around to be able to see what's going on.  Also, the fabric gets quite warm during the few times I used it on our walks.  I ordered the Bjorn Synergy from Amazon.  It's combo of the Bjorn Air and Active.  It has the breatheable fabric and back support.  Couldn't tell you yet how it is since its still on its way to me.  I should get it by next week.
