So I bought a used Moby...

because I'm cheap and already have the Ergo (not a fan of the infant insert, so I'll wait until her legs can split around me) and a Bjorn (already hurting my back).

Problem is the only used one I could find is the off white/tan one.  It looks terrible w/ my skin tone and makes me look like a mummy. :-)

I'm thinking I'll try dying it dark brown- anyone ever done this or have any thoughts about why this will work or not?

I'm not an expert, but I know that you generally want to dye fabric before wearing it as your body's oils can really effect how the dye sets.  You may want to consider dyeing in some way that isn't supposed to be one uniform color so any flaws aren't as obvious.

  • I have a beco, but can you not froggy her legs in tthe Ergo?  I think some people swaddle them and then put them in diagonally, I've seen it, happy, content newborn, not sure exactly how he was in there though.

I've never dyed anything. Perhaps if you went to your local fabric store (JoAnn's or Hancocks), someone there might have dying experience and be able to give you the details. Also, I'd just search around Google- there is usually a ton of info out there. You also may want to try a post on The Babywearer's forums- there are a lot of people on there who've dyed things before. GL!
  • If you are going to do this make sure you pick the right kind of dye - the wrong kind can keep bleeding off. Check this page out for some info...
