Where to deliver in Long Beach?

I'm reposting here since the LA board does not seem to be very active and Long Beach is almost in Orange County.  Hope that's ok.  :)

Hi, I'm pretty new here.  I've been lurking a little bit.  I live in Long Beach and am 28 weeks pregnant with my 1st.

I'm conflicted about where to deliver. Everybody says Long Beach Memorial is the best. I know they have a ton of great things to offer.  I went on the tour last night and was really turned off by the lack of private rooms, the size of the shared rooms (TINY) and the fact that my husband would have to leave at 10pm.  I'd love to hear anybody's experience delivering at Memorial.

My doctor will also deliver at St. Mary's but I know nothing about them besides the fact that I'd be guaranteed a private room.  Anybody deliver at St. Mary's?

    Does your dr. deliver at Hoag? Not a bad drive from LB.

    All of the rooms are private and DH can stay the night. They have the equiv. of a cot for him.

    No, I'd have to change doctor's for Hoag. But you're right it would not be a bad drive.

     I'm taking a tour at St. Mary's on Saturday. If I don't like it I might consider changing doctors for a better hospital.  Such a tough decision.

    im not sure if ur doc delivers at los al medical center....but i hada choose between that n lb memorial n loved los al.   they are less busy than memorial so almost guaranteed a private room....dh kn stay as late as he wants n if u do have ur own room he can stay the nyt.  nursing staff was awesome there

    Thanks!  Los Al is not far at all.  I work in Cypress so I pass by there every day.  My doctor only delivers at Memorial or St. Mary's.  If I don't like St. Mary's (going for a tour Sat.) I'll check out Los Al... I'd consider changing doctors for this.

    Hoag is really, really the best. It's not a bad drive (I grew up in LBC). One of my girlfriend's drove from San Gabriel to deliver at Hoag because it's so wonderful.
