Postpartum Depression

On Lexapro? come in!

My doc prescribed me Lexapro, 10mg a day, and Im starting therapy for PPA.

For you ladies who are already on it, what are your experiences? I had a really bad experience with Zoloft (increased my anxiety by 1000x), so Im scared to start another medication.

Re: On Lexapro? come in!

  • I was on Lexapro and it worked wonders for me. The first few days while my body was adjusting I felt a little tired, nothing major. I didn't experience any negative side effects. And I found it easy to wean off of as well.

  • is lexapro pregnancy safe? that is for depression?
  • Works great for me.
I've never been on anything else, so I have nothing to compare it to.

But... my sister has been on 3 or 4 different anti-anxiety & anti-depressants in the past, none of which did any good, some of which made things worse.
Her new doc recently started her on Lexapro, and she said she hasn't felt this good in YEARS.
  • Love it! No side effects really. Started working within 4 days! Good luck!
  • I'm on lexapro...have been for about four years...and am going to the dr. later today and maybe upping the dosage because i feel so anxious after the birth of my daughter.

  • I LOVE lexapro. Well, as much as you can love an antidepressent drug, haha.

It worked beautifully for me. I was given lexapro (10 mg) for anxiety, and I could feel it beginning to work in 5 days. I felt like my normal self in two weeks. I felt sleepy and irritable for the first 2-3 days, but then those side effects wore off.

I also had a bad experience with zoloft (it gave me anxiety and panic attacks that were far worse than anything I experienced off of the drug). I was terrified to try something else, so I had my mother-in-law come stay with me for a few days while I started the lexapro.

My psychiatrist is weaning me off of it right now, and I've had absolutely no problems taking a smaller dose.

Good luck! I hope your experience with lexapro is as great as mine.
