Sophie Teether... Choking hazard?

DD was in her swing with her Sophie in the living room and I went into the kitchen to clean bottles. I can see her from the sink. I hadn't even turned the water on and I heard a really quiet cough. Something made me go back over to her and she had Sophie's leg all the way down her throat, she was having trouble breathing! Of course I took Sophie and got DD out and she is fine now but OMG that was so scary!

Ladies, please be careful with your Sophie toys!

Oh man! I haven't heard of that happening before. Glad you were close by.

  • Scary!

S does it with her own hand sometimes.  My kid could choke on anything!

  • My son has done the same thing. It scared me so bad I took sophie away for a little while.
  • a couple of  years ago toys r us stores in canada voluntarily took sophie off the shelves because they felt she was a choking hazard. you can google it, but nothing ever happened. i've heard of people saying their LO gagged on sophie's legs so i try to watch whenever DD is playing w/ sophie.

I did just now and saw a lot about it. I think the legs should be shorter. She wasn't just gagging... it could have been bad if I wasn't paying attention. More reason to show that you should never leave a baby unattended with toys and things.
