Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Her name is not Bert!!!!

Ok, so it was one thing when my MIL thought that it would just be HILARIOUS to call my dd Bert (her name is Amber) even though I was completely annoyed by it. I told MIL that I didn't like her to be called Bert. I named her Amber so she would be called Amber, NOT Bert. BUT now that she is teaching my 14 month old niece to call her Bert it is not funny. Riley (my niece) plays w/ Shae (Amber's other cousin whose 16 months old) and now Riley & Shae are calling Amber Bert. I realize they are innocent children but now my poor baby is going to be called Bert at all family functions because my MIL thought up this stupid nickname. UGH.

We saw them all last weekend & the girls were like "Bert Bert Bert"....

Re: Her name is not Bert!!!!

  • I'm in the same boat. MIL has a stooopid nickname for DS. I told my husband to say something but his opinion is they'll call him whatever they like. I just keep calling him what I want him to go by and they'll catch on. I don't think it's weird for you to correct the little ones :)

  • If that happened to me, my MIL and I would be having words.

  • You know I did tell her flat out to "Stop" when she started calling him "Deck the Halls" in the hospital. Just be firm!
