What's the deal with baby powder?

I have seen on here that people say baby powder isn't good to use.  Does anyone know why it is bad or why you shouldn't use it?  My mom keeps saying I should use some on DS to keep him dry but I am a little weary of it.

  • Only if baby inhales it.....that's when it's pretty bad / dangerous.  Cornstarch is WAY better!!!!

    two things:

    1. the talc (in baby powder) can cause yeast infections

    2. they are doing research and studies that is linked to cancer (not sure ovarian , cervical...not sure) ...but what isn't linked to cancer nowadays!

These are words from my drs' and nurses' mouth at the hospital.

It gets airborne and baby breathes it in. The same can happen with cornstarch. It's best not to use either.
