I made a half batch of those lactation cookies someone on the board mentioned. I loved them- but I like that type of cookie. I added cranberries to the mix too. My IL's were here visiting, and knew what the cookies were...but we chose to call them 'trail mix cookies'. LOL Someone here had the suggestion of freezing little balls of dough so that you can take out a few at a time. Great suggestion, that's what I do now when I want something sweet. I plan on making a full batch this weekend now that I know I like them.
Re: Those lactation cookies are good!
may i have the recipe please?
TIA!
Just google "lactation cookies." I used the recipe from epicurious.com, but I think they're all pretty similar. I made up a whole bunch and froze half, after they were baked though.
I find that the brewer's yeast and flax seed meal (the "different" ingredients) really help me. Now I sprinkle them on my oatmeal to keep supply up. Can't have cookies ALL the time!
I see you're from Schaumburg. The one in Illinois? It's funny because I'm an actuary and that's where our professional organization is headquartered. Otherwise I would have never heard of it.
Anyway, I got the ingredients at Wegman's but I'm not sure if they're out by you. You could try the baking section of the regular supermarket for at least the flax seed meal. I've noticed that the baking section of my Shoprite carries a lot more "exotic" type items now. The brewer's yeast might be a little tougher to find. Might have to try a health food store for that one.
Like someone replied, I used the Epicurious recipe. I bought my flaxseed meal at Whole Foods and that huge container of brewer's yeast at GNC. I do think they helped due to the oatmeal, flaxseed and brewer's yeast. I'm also having oatmeal (cooked, not instant) several times a week for breakfast.
I loooove sweets, so if I'm going to have something, I'd rather have a cookie that will help me in some way in addition to tasting good.
