Jackie! I've been thinking about you since yesterday since this position that I am interviewing for is heavy on SOX and I am extremely light on SOX (but they know that and are still interested in me...)
Anyway, do you have any quick references where I could brush up on SOX (ie SOX for dummies?! )
I'm getting more and more nervous with each passing minute...
Re: cocojack10
I literally googled "SOX for Dummies" LOL and this website came up!

Do you have Accounting background, or is the position required to be SOX compliant? If the latter, then just focus on controls need to be in place at all times in order to prevent fraud.

I have an accounting background I am a CPA and currently controller of a private company. I left public accounting before SOX was born, so I only know of Internal Controls without the fancy title. The position is apparently a hybrid, so they are interested in me for my other abilities inspite of my lack of SOX experience, but the first priorities may be creating internal controls documentation and procedures. Documentation doesn't scare me, but I if I have to create/implement, I may be in way over my head. They are public, and I haven't worked for a public company ever (just audited them
SOX for dummies here I come!
It can be overwhelming, but once it is completed, what a sense of accomplishment!
Honestly, the exprience I have has been from being thrown in on-the-job. When I worked in public acc, we were doing consulting for a public company for SOX. It was their first yr of implementation (04). Then I saw they were hiring, and asked to be considered, and viola, I became the SOX expert.
I have a lot of documents we've used along the way that I can share with you WHEN you get the job. It should be very helpful when establishing objectives, risks, and controls. Not going to say it isn't easy, but def a challenging and learning exprience.
If you have any questions, I'm here!
