Houston Babies

What now?

Where do you put your babies while you shower?  For the longest time mine would hang out in the bassinet while I showered.  It worked out perfectly and she enjoyed it.  Now she is almost 5 months, and getting way too big for it.

Where do your babies hang out while you shower?

The pack n' play is too big for our bathroom, I prefer the swing and excersaucer in the living room (and they would be difficut to move back and forth everyday), so I am just curious what others do.

I looks like I may have to go buy something just to keep in the bathroom.

This isn't much help because I usually shower at night when DH is home.  But on occasion I take DS into the shower w/ me.  Our shower is big so I put his tub on the floor, fill it up and turn the shower head so it doesn't spray on him.  So long as I don't drip soap on him, he'll sit and play happily in the water until I'm done then we both get out and dry off.

I used to put a couple towels or a blanket down on the bathroom floor with a few toys.

  • I used to put Rena in her bouncy seat inside our bathroom. After she outgrew that I put her in the PNP until she could get out of it.

  • I do the bouncy seat, he loves it and will sit the entire time I'm in the shower!
  • I either shower while he's napping or put him in his bouncer in the bathroom with me if I shower while home alone.  Once he outgrows the bouncer, I'll probably get the newborn-to-toddler rocker.

  • I did the bouncy seat and/or swing for a long time.  My bathroom is seriously the smallest master bathroom you've ever seen so when he was in the swing it was usually in our bedroom.  I wasn't ever that worried when I was in the shower as long as I knew he couldn't get out of whatever I had him in.  Most of the time I try and hop in the shower before he gets up now which makes it a whole lot faster to get ready in the mornings!  I do miss my little buddy "talking" to me while I got ready though :)  If it's the weekend I put him in the living room in his play "yard" and he's fine.

  • Bouncy seat, exersaucer or jumperoo.

EDIT: I'd also leave Avery in the crib when she was still in one.  Sometimes I leave Joseph in his crib and take Avery in the bathroom with me while I shower.

  • At that age I would either shower before he got up in the morning or I would wait until he was going back down to nap, which was usually only a couple hours after that.

    bouncy seat.

After DD started sitting up on her own, the bouncy seat becomes un-safe so we put her ina bumbo with the tray on it and a toy suctioned to the tray so she couldn't drop it. After she could bust out of that I just let her hang out in the baby-proofed bathroom. Eventually she started coming in with me and she still usually does.
